Going down the infinite road of SEO, Blogging, Testing and adapting and modifying is what Google Analytics provides. I knew going into this challenge that I was not going to like all the results. This is fine as nothing in life is perfect all the time. Unless it is my marriage and my wife is listening… don’t get to close I may be struck by a lightning bolt. Anyway, back to business.
Here is a review from the 90 day challenge from the Google Analytics side.

Adapting and modifying is what Google Analytics provides.
The Good:
** The site is seeing roughly 15-25 users daily currently.
** They’re coming from areas such as Muskegon, Big Rapids, Cedar Springs, Rockford, Howard City, and Mount Pleasant. All areas I have targeted with my challenge.
** They’re staying and viewing 2+ pages
** They’re on the site for longer than 3 minutes on average
** 25% of them stay and visit more than 2 pages.
The site’s viewers are pretty close to our location, which means that the work on the blog posts targeting specific locations is working. They’re visiting and staying.
The BAD: I truly believe that we need to know the bad within our Google Analytics in order to adapt and modify our site for maximum results.
** The site is being viewed frequently, however no one is contacting. This is really the only bad in this case. Potential clients are coming and visiting, but not going any further than just reading a few blog posts and leaving. OR ARE THEY? For the past thirty years I know based on my business people do not usually impulse buy for media and video production services. The fact they are staying upwards of two minutes and even longer… this is good.

90 Day Challenge
WordPress Blog and SEO
Google Analytics
by dwvideo | Jul 10, 2014 | blog
WordPress Blog and SEO results from our 90 day challenge. Before getting into the data I want to cover a couple items. For all the do it yourself person be prepared to spend time based on the results you are looking for. For 90 days my WordPress Blog and SEO goal was to get my new site ranked in my area. Even when you do it yourself there is a cost involved. Each of my blogs on average took one to two hours to write. What is the cost? According to our consulting rate and other local writers in the area $25-$50/hr is an average rate. So 90 blogs at one to two hours per blog is 90 to 180 hours of prep at $25/hr. That is $4500 to $9000 of your time. Your time is valuable so use it well. (btw: DW Video offers a monthly WordPress Blog and SEO maintenance program – call 231-937-5420 to discuss your project)
When writing your blog what do you write about. What keywords do you use? What market area do you aim for? This will also be part of your prep time.

90 day challenge results for our WordPress Blog and SEO challenge.
When I began my WordPress Blog and SEO challenge my new site was not found at all. Ready for the data – here we go. Lets look at some search terms involving keywords related to my site:
** “Michigan Video Production” Placement: 4 Page This displays the home page url, using content on www.dwvideo.com.php56-26.ord1-1.websitetestlink.com and shows that url in the results.
** “Big Rapids Video Production” Placement: 4 Landing page shows up here, with “Big Rapids Michigan” in url – Additionally the other two posts are blog posts
** “Big Rapids VHS to DVD” Placement: 6 This pulls up the blog post regarding vhs to dvd. Technically this is the first result that isn’t a yellow pages ad or angieslist.
** “Cedar Springs Video Production” Placement: 1 Fantastic result for Cedar Springs if a user searches for “Video Production” in the city.
** “Big Rapids Video” Placement: 3 page Despite being listed on the 3rd page DW Video is the first Video Production company.
Additional Keywords and Placement:
** “big rapids medical video production” First 3 results on First page.
** “reed city medical video production” first result on first page
** “grand rapids medical video production” Second result on first page
** “cedar Springs video to DVD” second result on Second page
** “rockford media productions” 3rd page result
Here is an important fact that you need to know right now. No sugar coating. Working your site for WordPress Blog and SEO for results is an infinite project once you begin. Google is a data beast that is always hungry.
The data is one item, knowing what to do with it is the next step. In my next blog we will begin looking at what we are going to do with this data.

90 Day Challenge
Google Analytics

In ninety days my site is two and three on page one with the keyword phrase video production big rapids
From April one to July one I did a 90 day website-blog-SEO challenge on my dwvideo site. According to one of my clients and friends, Dr. Harpreet Singh references Simon Sinek’s Start with the Why of the Problem. ‘Don’t tell someone what to do – tell them how to do it’ – that is my goal. The purpose of my challenge was two fold: One is the share the data with you as I learned more and two, for us to feed the Google beast targeted keywords so our SEO grows.
What is the Google beast you ask? The Google beast thrives on content. It graves it, wants it, cannot live with it. So, on your website you need to be Google friendly and feed the content beast. For my challenge the focus was on feeding the beast through my Blog. One blog post a day for ninety days. BTW: Larry and I are still reviewing the data from the ninety days. From the data we will have the good, bad and ugly. I promise, this info will be posted as soon as we can.
Why did I start this challenge? It all began when we changed our website. We have a new look, feel and direction for the new site. The problem at first, not a huge problem, was my old site was ranked and I did not want it showing up anymore.
Now back to the results of the challenge. For one result (and there will be more) lets look at the phrase – video production big rapids. We are listed two and three. the second result is from one of my blogs. The third result is from my landing page. More on landing pages later.
The 90 day website-blog-SEO challenge is just the start. Remember when mentioned before the Google beast thrives on content. Another tip, it is always hungry. This is what you have to continue to feed with content often.
Was curious that if the dwvideo.com.php56-26.ord1-1.websitetestlink.com site was ranked for the keywords I wondered, “how were my images ranked?” The images below are from page one, beginning from the top of the page.

Our images from the same video production big rapids ranked well on the first page.

Independence Day-Fourth of July… which is more patriotic? When I woke up this morning that question was not even on my mind. Turned on the radio and hear the guys talking and this question was proposed. So, what say you? Independence Day-Fourth of July does one speak more of patriotism over the other? This got me thinking.
According to Slate, ” The phrase “Fourth of July” was in use by the end of the 18th century, but not quite as often. While traveling through Connecticut in 1807 and 1808, early American chronicler Edward Augustus Kendall saw citizens assembling on a knoll to celebrate “the Fourth of July, or Independent or Independence Day.” “Fourth of July” overtook both “Independence Day” and “Independent Day” in newspaper articles and toasts to George Washington during the 19th century. In an article for New England magazine in 1890, historian Edward Hale wrote, “in my boyhood, the event … was called independence day much more than it is now.”
“As many history buffs know, there’s some irony to rise of the phrase “Fourth of July” since the date itself has little significance. Congress approved a declaration of independence on July 2, 1776, and John Adams expected that to be the most important date in American history,” states the Slate. “The official Declaration, however, was approved two days later by a committee. The first printed copies read “In Congress, July 4, 1776.” Since that broadsheet was tacked up in cities all over the nation, the date stuck.”
Independence Day-Fourth of July… to me knowing I have my Independence on the Fourth of July is special. Lets take the time to thank teachers, scout leaders, coaches and those that get up everyday to do something nice for others. Thank a vet, respect a vet and remember those that keep and have kept us free. God Bless America.
