Independence Day-Fourth of July

Independence Day-Fourth of July… which is more patriotic?  When I woke up this morning that question was not even on my mind.  Turned on the radio and hear the guys talking and this question was proposed.  So, what say you?  Independence Day-Fourth of July does one speak more of patriotism over the other?  This got me thinking.

According to Slate, ” The phrase “Fourth of July” was in use by the end of the 18th century, but not quite as often. While traveling through Connecticut in 1807 and 1808, early American chronicler Edward Augustus Kendall saw citizens assembling on a knoll to celebrate “the Fourth of July, or Independent or Independence Day.” “Fourth of July” overtook both “Independence Day” and “Independent Day” in newspaper articles and toasts to George Washington during the 19th century. In an article for New England magazine in 1890, historian Edward Hale wrote, “in my boyhood, the event … was called independence day much more than it is now.”

“As many history buffs know, there’s some irony to rise of the phrase “Fourth of July” since the date itself has little significance. Congress approved a declaration of independence on July 2, 1776, and John Adams expected that to be the most important date in American history,” states the Slate.  “The official Declaration, however, was approved two days later by a committee. The first printed copies read “In Congress, July 4, 1776.” Since that broadsheet was tacked up in cities all over the nation, the date stuck.”

Independence Day-Fourth of July… to me knowing I have my Independence on the Fourth of July is special.  Lets take the time to thank teachers, scout leaders, coaches and those that get up everyday to do something nice for others.  Thank a vet, respect a vet and remember those that keep and have kept us free.  God Bless America.

WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin

WordPress SEO by Yoast Page Analysis

WordPress SEO by Yoast Page Analysis aids in making your blog post SEO friendly.

I talked before about the WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin.  As I write my blog I reference the analysis section to help me. Please note – to see the changes you must ‘Save Draft’ fist.

This info was from a recent post.  By using the analysis on the WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin I am able to get the following information:

The keyword density is 0.85%, which is a bit low, the keyword was found 3 times.
The page title contains 21 characters, which is less than the recommended minimum of 40 characters. Use the space to add keyword variations or create compelling call-to-action copy.
No subheading tags (like an H2) appear in the copy.
The keyword / phrase appears in the URL for this page.
The images on this page contain alt tags with the target keyword / phrase.
This page has 1 outbound link(s).
The copy scores 85.1 in the Flesch Reading Ease test, which is considered easy to read.
You’ve never used this focus keyword before, very good.
The page title contains keyword / phrase, at the beginning which is considered to improve rankings.
In the specified meta description, consider: How does it compare to the competition? Could it be made more appealing?
The meta description contains the primary keyword / phrase.
There are 358 words contained in the body copy, this is more than the 300 word recommended minimum.
The keyword appears in the first paragraph of the copy.

WordPress SEO by Yoast

WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin I aim for a GREEN light.

WordPress SEO by Yoast Schedule

WordPress SEO by Yoast Scheduler is a great tool to work ahead.

Now, I am not an expert, however I am trying to make sure my keywords are being seen.  Over use will get you a red flag which is also helpful.

The WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin likes images with alt tags.

Likes a good word count.

Enjoys outbound links.

Does your page title include the key word or keyword phrase – important.

Has this keyword been used before.

This section I call the guideline area.  There are times I get a ‘green’ light with less or in this case more words than what is recommend.  Again good guidelines to follow.

WordPress SEO by Yoast Schedule Page

From your panel you see what is Published and what is Scheduled.

WordPress Blog Post

Schedule your WordPress Blog Post.  If your life is anything like mine time is an issue.  We have a few minutes here and a few minutes there.  When I began using my WordPress Blog my intentions was to use it to inform, educate and help with SEO in my area.  The majority of the time I was trying to follow a publishing schedule.  For me it was a post of day for ninety days.  April one to July One.  Almost there.  In WordPress, you can schedule posts to go live at a particular time and date, so you don’t need to be at your computer (or even awake) when the post goes live.

wordpress-blog-post

Setting a WordPress Blog Post schedule is important.

We are all busy and carving out a chunk of time to write is not always the easy thing to do.  For me it was laptop in my lap while watching TV at night with the family.  Some nights I would pump out two or three blog post and other evenings only one.  The nice thing about doing a WordPress Blog Post is you can schedule. Keeping with my one a day at one point I was ten or twelve days ahead.  That was then, like now I am doing my Blog Post now, getting ready to publish as soon as these fingers can type.

It is nice that you can schedule.  Best when you can stay ahead. Do not get me wrong.  Going to share a tip and this will make sense to many of you.  Starting something new you are excited.  Find it easy to make the time.  As the days and months ticked by it became a chore (at times).  However as I mentioned in a previous post – at the end of my ninety day challenge my programmer and I will review my stats and then share with you.  The Good, Bad and Ugly.  You see in my world the mistakes I make teach.  Stay tuned.
