Old Pioneer Store

The Old Pioneer Store and Emporium in Big Rapids is one of those wonderful small town shops.  Owned by my friends Brian and Carlleen Rose, these two go beyond and offer wonder customer service and a variety of candles, jewelry and much much more.

According to Kellys Deer Processing Website  – “In the fall of 1978 Colin Kelly started his meat cutting career right here in Mecosta County. Colin went to work at Boven’s Custom Butchering of Morley Michigan. The first year he worked their was the last year that Boven’s processed deer. Seeing the need for someone else to process deer was right in front of him. So in 1979 KELLY’S DEER PROCESSING was started. The first year 25 deer were processed in a back room of Colin’s house. Now with a State of Michigan licensed building in the Big Rapids area about 1,500 Michigan Whitetail Deer are processed per year. KELLY’S DEER PROCESSING is open virtually every day of Michigan’s Whitetail season. From late September till January and out of season by appointment”.

Volunteers provide an overview of resources and services to enlighten, encourage and empower those seeking cancer and wellness information and support. The Wheatlake Cancer and Wellness Center is located in the Professional Office Building just east of the main entrance to Mecosta County Medical Center at 705 Oak Street, Big Rapids.
