According to Kellys Deer Processing Website  – “In the fall of 1978 Colin Kelly started his meat cutting career right here in Mecosta County. Colin went to work at Boven’s Custom Butchering of Morley Michigan. The first year he worked their was the last year that Boven’s processed deer. Seeing the need for someone else to process deer was right in front of him. So in 1979 KELLY’S DEER PROCESSING was started. The first year 25 deer were processed in a back room of Colin’s house. Now with a State of Michigan licensed building in the Big Rapids area about 1,500 Michigan Whitetail Deer are processed per year. KELLY’S DEER PROCESSING is open virtually every day of Michigan’s Whitetail season. From late September till January and out of season by appointment”.
