September 11 2001 is a day that will go down in history. According to the History Website: “On September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Often referred to as 9/11, the attacks resulted in extensive death and destruction, triggering major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism and defining the presidency of George W. Bush. Camilles on the River – scene from the finished video
While shooting a TV Commercial for KJM Production’s client, Camille’s on the River, we had owner Jim Holt0n do a Buy Local Video Profile. This Mount Pleasant Video Profile offers a personal touch by the owner. It is not always easy, however you are the best one to tell your story. Watch the video below.
“You never want to assume and just come in and shoot a TV Commercial or Buy Local Video Profile for a person’s business,” comments Duane. “Kathy set the shoot up with Jim to have a select group of his customers come in, just for the production. This works great since we had control over each scene.”
For example having the wait staff bringing out their food. We did this three or four times – which meant handing the customer their food… and then taking it away. Do not worry – once we were done, the customers were treated to an excellent meal. It is all about communication and planning.

When I decided to do a blog post on Made in Michigan, I thought, hummm, I work with businesses in Michigan. This sent me on a mission to see what else was Made In Michigan. Within five minutes here is what I found – the ones I like: michigan-made.com, Handmade Michigan, Buy Michigan Now

There are many reasons to buy locally. Here are a few:
1) When you buy from an independent, locally owned business, rather than a nationally owned businesses, significantly more of your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses. Thus keeping your (their) money locally.
2) Non-profit organizations receive more support from smaller business owners than they do from large businesses.
3) Buying local creates community. People like doing business with people they know and trust.
4) Small local businesses are the largest employer nationally.
5) Local businesses are more likely to hire local people. These people have a better understanding of the products they are selling and take more time to get to know customers.
