As a founding member and president for 6 years of the Montcalm County Panhandle Area Chamber of Commerce, Duane Weed steps down as of January of 2003.  

"I have learned so much and am thankful to have been the president since the beginning states Duane.  I remember writing the bylaws and the first official meeting where we were going to elect officers.  My wife commented before I left not to come back as president.  My thought were "yeah right"! 

However Mr. Charles Halterman (God Rest His Soul) nominated me as president.  Chuck saw something in me that I didn't and as the time passed he became my mentor and friend. His passing has left a void in the community and it is up to the 'younger generation' to give back as he did.  Thanks Chuck you are deeply missed."
